August 13th is Riverside Coffee Culture Walk and Rivertowne Community BBQ

Lots of fun is coming up this Saturday, August 13th with Riverside’s Coffee Culture Walk from 11am-1:30pm and the 7th Annual Rivertowne Community BBQ from 2pm-9pm! Here’s a sneak peak of what’s in store:

From 11am-1pm walkers will enjoy an in-depth exploration of three of Riverside’s finest coffee establishments: Merchants of Green Coffee, Darkhorse, and Boxcar Social, plus learn fascinating business history of the neighbourhood dating to 1800s. Read all about it!
‘Riverside Walks’ is a series of local walking tours throughout the spring, summer, and fall (May-Oct) that invite residents and visitors to come and explore the vibrant Riverside neighbourhood. Sponsored by Team Sheppard Re/MAX, the 2016 walks series showcase Riverside’s diverse culture, and caters to a wide variety of interests.  Check here for more upcoming walks.

Following the walk is the 7th Annual Riverside Community BBQ and everyone is invited to enjoy enjoy music, free food and fun in Joel Weeks Park just north of Queen Street East.

The Rivertowne Community BBQ is organized by the Rivertowne Safety 1st Group, a resident collective comprised of Toronto Community Housing’s fabulous women-leaders, dedicated to making a positive impact in the community. Rivertowne is a revitalized neighbourhood with a rich history, culture and lots of community involvement in Riverside. Read more here.

Riverside Pollinator Mural – Progress Week 1

The scissor lift arrived on Monday, August 8th and acclaimed Toronto mural artist and Riverside resident Nick Sweetman has been braving the heat all week. The high quality primer has been applied to the entire mural wall space at 777 Queen Street East, on the west facing wall of Elbers Antiques. Now, Nick is starting to shape the mural with vibrant colours which will grow to cover the entire space over the next few weeks. The entire process will be complete by August 31 – we’ll provide weekly updates but please walk by to see this masterpiece take shape day by day! Read all about the mural and see what it’ll look here.

Through the CNE Corporate Sales program, employees of your BIA and the businesses you represent ( and their families) can save up to 40% on CNE tickets. CNE Corporate Rates are the lowest available and you can choose from two flexible ticketing options. If your group signs up for online ticketing, the CNE would provide a unique access code that you would be free to share with your colleagues. They would then purchase their discounted tickets online at their own computers. With the consignment option, the CNE issues tickets to you in advance and your payment and unsold tickets are due by September 4.

The George Brown College Foundation is pleased to announce the 3rd Annual Food Court Social, presented by the Slaight Family Foundation! Join us for an evening with over a dozen of Toronto’s best chefs under one roof in support of those struggling with mental health and addiction. Enjoy extraordinary food, live music, local beer and wine, and some of Toronto’s most passionate philanthropists and savvy business minds!
All proceeds from the event will go to support George Brown College’s Augmented Education program. In partnership with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), this innovative program helps those with a history of mental illness or addiction overcome barriers to education and training, and helps them prepare for, find and maintain employment.
